Born in the United States, both my parents are from Kefalonia. As a young girl, I used to spend all my childhood summers in Razata, a small village in Kefalonia, and my father’s birthplace.
For as long as I can remember as a little girl, I always dreamed that one day I would get married on this beautiful island. That dream did become reality in July 2016, when my fiancé and I got married in the local village church at Razata, surrounded by loved ones from all corners of the world. It was a traditional Greek wedding one might say, but with a number of modern twists. Like for you, this was a destination wedding for us. Living in the United Kingdom, we had to plan our wedding being abroad in less than 9 months. We managed to pull it off. Family and friends from all parts of the world, including the United States, Ireland, Jordan and Cyprus had come to celebrate with us; even to this day, many of our guests still mention their fond memories from that day and what an amazingly epic wedding we had. This was the planting of the seed sort of speak and my first real taste of planning a wedding abroad, quickly realising it wouldn’t be my last.
